1:00 PM Lunch at The Haggis Box

One of the best ways to travel deeper is by eating the traditional food of your destination. With that said, when in Scotland, you simply must try Haggis!
Haggis is a dish made with sheep’s offal, oats, suet, and several spices. Traditionally, Haggis is served with Neeps (turnips) and Tatties (mashed potatoes) and a whisky-based sauce. The first recording of Haggis dates back to 1430, with the dish becoming Scotland’s National Dish in the 19th century.
Haggis is not gluten free, but lucky for you I found the best gluten free haggis in Edinburgh! If you’re vegan or vegetarian, The Haggis Box has a Haggis for you too.😉
If you are like me and are sensitive to gamey or lamb flavors, I’m happy to report that Haggis did not taste like either! Haggis tastes similar to Black Pudding and/or Morcilla, and has both a spiced and earthy flavor. This dish was DELICIOUS and I cannot recommend it enough!
2:30 PM Harry Potter Tour
Attention Harry Potter fans and Potter heads! Did you know that J.K. Rowling took a lot of inspiration from Edinburgh? If you didn’t, now you do!
This Harry Potter walking tour takes you around Edinburgh, showing you the real grave of Tom Riddle, and the many places that inspired Rowling. During this tour, you will also be sorted into your Hogwarts House and be quizzed on your Potter knowledge. The more questions you get right, the more points for your house!
To clarify, these are not the filming locations – but the locations that inspired Rowling. No filming took place in Edinburgh, Scotland.
This is one of Edinburgh’s most popular tours and tends to sells out. Book your tickets now to save your spot!👇

New Town – New Town, despite being right next to Old Town, already is a more affordable option. Here you will have the best and easiest access to public transportation, and will have access to less touristy businesses and shops.
Stockbridge – If you want to dive deeper into Edinburgh and be amongst the locals, this is the right neighborhood for you! Best Time to Visit Edinburgh
The best time to visit Edinburgh are the spring and summer months. When it comes to tourism, spring is less busy than the the summer. The weather is starting to warm up, there is less rain, and the days begin begin to get longer.
The summer months are, obviously, the warmest and have less rain than all the other months. They will be more expensive months due to the high tourism season, BUT these months are also filled with festivals and celebrations.
Overall, any of these two seasons will be amazing for visiting – simply take into consideration your budget, experiences, and the weather you prefer.
Note: Businesses and certain attractions have interesting operating days and hours, so this is something you want to keep in mind! For example, if you don’t know whether to visit Edinburgh from a Monday to Wednesday or Thursday to Saturday – check the operating days of the attractions you want to see!
How to Get Around Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a fairly small, and very walkable city. If you’re staying central, you can easily walk to wherever. Edinburgh also has great and easy-to-use public transportation.
